Drama
Students of Drama are provided with a variety of opportunities to perform throughout the year. In Year 12 students present their final practical pieces as part of the Individual Project and Group-devised Projects at an HSC Showcase performance evening held early in Term 3. This occurs just prior to the student’s final HSC practical examinations and allows parents, friends and the wider school community the opportunity to see the work that has been produced and conducted during the course.
Year 11 Drama students produce and perform a play usually in Semester One of their course as part of their syllabus requirements. Matinee performances are presented to junior English classes and evening shows are attended by staff, friends and family.
Year 11 Drama students present scenes from their HSC set topics at the Annual Showcase night in Term 4. This forms part of their HSC studies and the experience proves invaluable in developing their understanding of the texts and topics being studied.
Year 10 Drama students present their play built piece for the school ANZAC Service every year as well as presenting engaging pieces at the Annual Showcase night.
Year 9 Drama class generally present their first public performance at the Annual Showcase night.
Winmalee High School also has a Junior Drama Ensemble for interested Year 7 & 8 students. This ensemble runs after school on Friday afternoons from 3.00pm-4.00pm and select Elective Drama students from Years 9 & 10 have the opportunity to assist as tutors. This group also performs with all the other Drama classes on the Annual Showcase in Term 4.
