Real Schools is about enhancing school culture through a focus on building partnerships and embedding Restorative Practices into our school. Winmalee High School has started a 3-year partnership with Real Schools. We have engaged in this partnership, as we see the value in building effective relationships, resolving conflict, deepening empathy and improving student behaviour.
The focus on Restorative Practices is about asking students the right questions when things go wrong, having them take responsibility for their actions, and to help them to make right their wrongs. Ultimately, it is about teaching responsibility for your actions.
School staff will work with a Real Schools coach to engage in professional learning and in class support.
Parent/Carer sessions will be held at the school, led by our Real Schools coach.
Student leaders will engage in training to assist them in leading restorative mediation.
The school’s Positive Behaviour for Learning Team will embed restorative practices and Real Schools strategies into their whole school activities to support the explicit teaching of skills to students.

We would like to welcome you to the Dharug and Gundungurra land on which our school resides, acknowledging that though the surrounding environment has changed over time, the spiritual connection between the land and indigenous peoples remains. We would like to thank all those who gather and respect this connection. We would also like to pay our respects to elders both past and present and extend that respect to those with indigenous heritage within our school community. (Troy Zoernleib – Vice Captain 2022)
