Winmalee High School has moved to the Healthy school canteen model. All funds raised through the canteen are used by the school for the purchase of items to improve learning or the learning environment. e.g. provision of equipment and facilities for the school.
The school has a spacious and well appointed canteen which has proved a benefit to the students. This canteen is managed by Lisa Hooley along with her staff team and students. The successful operation of the canteen also depends on the willingness of parents/carers to give voluntary help. Parents/carers find the day at the canteen a time of good fellowship with other parents/carers and a satisfying service to the students. It is a very rewarding experience working alongside students of all ages.
The time working in the canteen is from 9.30am to 2.00pm on any day and volunteers help with preparing food orders, stocking shelves, and serving at recess and lunch. We lose helpers each year as families leave the school and we rely on new volunteers to keep costs down.
To be a Canteen Helper please contact Lisa Hooley (Canteen Manager) on 4754 2822. Full training is provided and it is necessary to have a current Working With Children Check.
It is recommended that students order their lunches before school or at recess. Lunch orders are given priority at lunch time to prevent delay and ensure that they receive their choice. Limited stock is sold without ordering.
