Work Experience at Winmalee High School
At Winmalee High School, students aged 14 and over can take part in work experience. The timing is flexible and depends on when employers are available and when students can find a suitable placement that matches their interests.
Most students complete one week of work experience in Year 10. They are encouraged to find their own placement, with help from parents or the Careers Adviser if needed.
Work experience has many benefits. It helps students build skills, gain real-world experience, and explore careers they might be interested in.
Before starting, students and employers must complete the Student Placement Record (SPR) - (PDF 210 KB). This form must be signed by the student, a parent, the employer, and lastly the school. The employer also receives The Workplace Learning Guide for Employers, which explains insurance details.
Students must also complete the My Work Experience online modules and email their certificate to the Workplace Manager, Dr Emily Burns, at emily.burns21@det.nsw.edu.au.
To stay on track, students can use the Winmalee High School Work experience checklist (PDF 950 KB) to check that they have completed all the necessary steps.
